Concertzaal Tramkade
In 2017 we have done a quick-scan study to establish a multifunctional concert hall for 1200 people on the Tramkade in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. We have tested some models for a hall within the existing “Kaaihallen” warehouse.
W2: Willem Twee (Fabriek)
VK: Verkade Fabriek
KH: Kaaihallen
W: Werkwarenhuis
MF: Meng Fabriek
SC: Skate Center
Art district “Kop van het Zand”
The “Kop van het Zand” has undergone a grassroots development in recent years, this place is rapidly growing into a vibrant arts cluster. The Kop van het Zand location, on the edge of the inner city, now has a favorable combination of proximity, rich offerings and spatial possibilities for activities for a larger audience. Regarding the range of cultural and leisure activities, the location also forms a link between the city center and the Brabanthallen. Synergy is slowly emerging between the Willem Twee, Verkade Fabriek and the various activities on the Tramkade. This contributes to the exchange, cooperation and meeting of various art forms for the artists and the public. A clear cultural axis that connects the activities at the Kop van het Zand would contribute to the physical meeting and symbolic connection.
Theater & Concert hall
In the preferred model, we see the existing warehouse space as a spatial structure in which various new building volumes are implanted. The Hall is a soundproof sealed box with ideal volume proportions in which the acoustics can be perfectly controlled. This model combines good permanent facilities in combination with maintaining the existing building within a low construction budget strategy. A unique characteristic concert hall will be created that fits in the context of the Tramkade location.
