Gemeentehuis Geldrop-Mierlo
With a newly added volume, including the Council Chamber and meeting rooms, we have reorganized the town hall of Geldrop-Mierlo. This transparent meeting centre communicates the public nature of the building and engages the citizens with the municipality. Internally, it is the core of the building complex where visitors, the council and civil servants come together. The renovated building is all electric, with EU energy label class A+++.

Appearance
Part of the commission is an improvement of the architectural expressiveness of the complex. The current situation lacks the appearance of a public building and does not communicate clearly that this is the town hall. The town hall now consists of two interconnected buildings; a listed monumental villa from 1868 and a building from 1985 (architect De Bever) with two office wings and a middle area which is connected with the villa.
Central public zone
Reset architecture has visually disconnected the villa from the eighties building to emphasize the monumental status of the villa and to create a clear entrance situation from the surrounding public space. Subsequently, a new transparent volume has been designed that is positioned between the two office wings above the ground floor. This rearrangement creates clarity in the composition of the complex. The villa and the new middle area form the public zone, centrally, between the two office wings. To new added architecture responds to the eclectic villa to accentuate the public function. The facades of the villa have a symmetrical design with a vertical articulation emphasized by a middle risalite and corner pilasters. The addition of Reset architecture can be read as an abstraction of this, it continues the white color of the villa in a curtain wall in which the verticality in the detail is emphasized to the utmost. The new manifests itself emphatically, it crosses the office wings with an overhang and the transparency of the façades communicates an inviting public character.

Agora
The interior of the multifunctional meeting centre has an open and spatial character. The conference centre presents itself as a whole with meeting rooms on two floors. The cohesion of the space is enhanced by a continuous rhythm of columns in the four facades and all-round light through the glass facades.
Process
In a short design process of 7 months, Reset architecture has developed the plan from draft design into a technical design for the tender. Despite the rising prices in the construction industry, it has succeeded in designing the project within budget, the total contract price is 5.5 million euros. Construction is currently under way, Reset architecture remains involved in making working drawings and construction supervision.
