Reset
The name Reset is chosen because of a fascination for context-sensitive architecture. We focus on revive, renew, restructuring of locations and buildings. From a practical idealism the name reset is also meant to trigger alertness and an open mind. We like to rethink a given task in a design process that results in a widely supported innovative plan.
“True innovation requires letting go of your own reality. Reset provides guidance for this release. They creates space in which you can realize your dreams into a sustainable, beautiful and livable building.”

REVIVE
Existing buildings always have an emotional value for people. Even when they do not have a history with a building, people feel the cultural value. We think this an enormously attractive circumstance that we gratefully use. Our plans respond to the existing context and the characteristic of places. We value what is already there and use it as a start for a functional transformation. We are not afraid of far-reaching interventions, after all, without a renewed use, (monumental) buildings would soon have no longer any significance. Adapting to contemporary comfort and use requirements is necessary for giving heritage or a private home a vital sustainable future.
Re-use and renovation has been a recurring exercise in our career, also with work experience for Reset architecture. Experience is crucial, this discipline requires good building knowledge and a smooth insight into the (im)possibilities of the existing situation. We like to be assisted by cultural historians and restoration experts where necessary. We combine thoughtfulness with boldness, resulting in a renewed situation in which exciting synergy arises between the existing and the new.
“Since the opening of our museum, we have only received favorable reactions. Everyone likes the building, especially the interaction between the light wood of the current interior and the dark wood of the load-bearing construction. Our glass showcases are beautifully presented in the exhibition area. It has really become a building where everyone feels at home. And our employees are full of praise for the new workplaces on the vide. From the outside the image of the old reconstruction barn has been well preserved and that contrasts nicely with the inside of our beautiful museum.”

RENEW
We design context sensitive architecture. Concepts for new buildings arise from inspiration from the existing atmosphere and respond to the situation. We do not work from a recognizable style, we like to create atmosphere from the context and to surprise. We are guided by deep-rooted curiosity, we are interested in our client dreams and the discoveries that arise from an interactive design process.
In our built work you can recognise that our architecture is designed to blend into its surroundings but also to stand out.
“We were looking for a conventional terraced house in Nijmegen, but could not find anything that suited us within our budget. Then we heard about Vossenpels and the ‘Plant your Flag’ project where we could build a house ourselves. Living in our self made house gives a lot of satisfaction. Thanks to Reset architecture the house is comfortable, spacious and flooded with a sea of light. Our house is not only a house, it is a work of art and at the same time a warm home. ”

Restructure
The exploratory nature of a vision, a master plan or feasibility study fits us well. From a careful analysis, with an interaction between landscape, urban design and architecture, we explore spatial possibilities. With design research we look for several alternatives that arise from structures and characteristic value in the context. Designing a logical order is the core of our profession. The renewed structure should allow flexible use and can respond to changing circumstances. We like to make plans that are self-evident and still show a distinct individuality.
We know how to organise a design process based on a broad experience. In addition, we show inventiveness. Reset won a nomination in the Droom Noord Holland competition organised by the province of Noord-Holland and a second place for a Center plan for Miami.
“The incentive to work with Reset architecture for us is the fact that they have vision on a large landscape scale but also show dedication and quality in detailing on a small scale. Theo can, with great vision and commitment, design within an integral changing process in which the office can move quickly without sacrificing quality. Starting with a strong concept they design sophisticated and sustainability technical solutions.”
